The Water Dragon Spell was a powerful spell to turn another life-form, including a merperson, or a regular human being, into a Water Dragon. The only way to break the spell was via the usage of the Jiao Long Bracelet.

Love weakens the spell which drives the dragon to hunt mermaids. Nerissa wouldn't hurt Mimmi or Zac when she was under the curse. It is possible that the Chinese Mermaid was also safe due to the love she shared with the cursed land boy.
History[]
In the ancient times, during the Shang Dynasty, an unknown pod cast this spell on the land boy to punish the Chinese Mermaid and her pod. The spell was later reversed by his mermaid lover with the Jiao Long Bracelet.
In the late 1990s, a rebel mermaid Aurora used this same spell on Nerissa to destroy the Eastern Pod via turning them permanently into regular human beings with its Cold Fire. The spell on Nerissa was broken years later by her daughter, Mimmi with the Jiao Long Bracelet.
