Turn the Tide is an Eastern self-defense spell that was created by members of the ancient Eastern Pod, and utilized as a form of self-defense in order to turn magic back on itself.
Overview[]
The spell allowed a practicing merperson to turn the supernatural wave of magical energy, be it a telekinetic force, a gentle breeze, or a water dragon's cold breath around, and to redirect it to its original source, thus effectively turning magic back on itself. It was a very difficult to learn, and it required a great deal of mental and emotional discipline in order to properly master. It was a form of Eastern merperson's self-defense techniques, and Eastern hatchlings were taught this spell as a part of their training in the Merpeople School. No Southern mermaids were known to had mastered the spell, but a couple of them have tried. Zac Blakely, a Northern merman, has mastered this spell after a hard practice.
History[]
In "Turning The Tide", Weilan has shown she can turn magic back on itself. When Zac hears about Weilan's knowledge of Eastern mermaid self-defense techniques, he asks her to instruct him with the goal of defeating the Water Dragon.
In "The Way of the Dragon", Zac uses this spell to turn Dragon's Cold Fire back on itself, but the Cold Fire has no effect on the dragon.
