Spell-casting' was a supernatural ability to cast and perform a variety of different magical acts and rituals that served specific purposes.

Overview

Spell-casting was a supernatural ability that allowed to practice and perform a variety of different spells and rituals in order to achieve a desired magical effect that sometimes varied between each other, including a spell to transfer knowledge, to deflect magic, and a spell to neutralize anything.

Spells could be cast non-verbally.

• So far only the members of the Eastern Pod, including Weilan, and Zac Blakely, a merman native from the Northern Pod, were shown casting spells without the aid of external, magical objects.
  • It was revealed that Nerissa also cast a powerful spell that rendered her son, Zac himself, unable to grow a tail, and rendered his magical powers dormant for the duration of a spell, however, it was unknown if she achieved it by casting the spell with her Moon Ring, just like the Legs Spell could be cast, or via her own raw, albeit immense magical power.
  • It was also revealed that another equally powerful rebel mermaid, Aurora, used a powerful curse to turn Nerissa into a fearsome Water Dragon in order to destroy the Eastern Pod. However, it was also unclear whether this spell could be cast via the use of one's own magical power, or needed to be cast in conjunction of the aid of external, magical object, such as a moonstone.
• Lewis McCartney once believed Louise Chatham to be a witch, before it was revealed that she was actually a mermaid. However, it was not known whether true human witches existed in the H2O/Mako: Island of Secrets universe, or not.
