Pyrokinesis is the elemental power to create and put out fires at will.
Overview[]
Pyrokinesis is the power to start and put out fires on any target at will. The fire created can burn even over water. Despite this, a merperson doesn't have control over fires or anything related. It is the amplified version of Hydro-Thermokinesis that human-turned merpeople receives in any active Moon Pool during a rare planetary alignment known as the Elemental Moon. Pyrokinesis is one of the most dangerous powers a merperson possess.
It is also shown that a sick merperson could develop this power, causing them to sneeze streams of fire, but they were unable to control it, and the ability was presumably gone after they were cured. The Incineration Spell can be casted by a mermaid through a Moon Ring to simulate the power of Pyrokinesis.
History[]
In "Stormy Weather", Rikki looks at the Full Moon and swims to Mako Island with the girls and was in the Moon Pool during the special planetary alignment which amplified Rikki's original power to much more powerful levels, Pyrokinesis and Electrokinesis. Under the effects of the Moon Spell, together they create a powerful electric storm and blow Lewis away. The next day, Rikki are surprised when she discover her new powers. When she used her power to dry her clothes, a bolt of lightning struck and burned her clothes.
It is shown that Pyrokinesis can be used to create fires even over water. In "Control", Lewis has little success when he decides to test the girls' new and unpredictable powers. When Rikki were practicing her power in the Moon Pool with a plastic shark, she set it fire on the water.
This power can also get out of control and become dangerous, in "The Truth About Evie", Evie catches a cold and it causes her to lose control of her powers. Whenever she sneezes she lights things on fire.
Though Hydro-Thermokinesis hasn't been amplified yet, but it still shows some aspect of Pyrokinesis. In "Bad Moon Rising", a Full Moon can also cause Hydro-Thermokinesis to spin out of control, causing everything a mermaid touches to instantly dehydrate and ignite.
