Hotstuff is one of Cleo's tropical fish. Rikki gave Cleo the fish as a replacement for Cleo's recently deceased fish, Pluto. Originally, Rikki bought Cleo a goldfish to replace Pluto, which was not accepted, as Cleo only collects salt water fish. Thus, Rikki went looking for a new fish to get Cleo, and got Hotstuff from the ocean while in mermaid form to give her to her. Cleo accepted this fish, and didn’t name it Hotstuff yet, noting the fish was quieter than Pluto but would settle in nicely. Cleo later named Hotstuff in honor of Rikki.
