The Trident Cave is a cave located within a secret entrance on Mako Island. The cave only opens up during the Full Moon or full moonlight.
A pathway leads to a larger room that has a circular carving in the wall, with a trident head in the middle. When a merman touches it on a full moon the carving will transform into a watery portal leading to a underwater dimension were the Trident is located. When a human touches the trident head, they will pass through a portal that leads to the Moon Pool, and they will be transformed into a mermaid or merman.
