Rita had everything I needed. Sirena said he wasn't affected by the power of one full moon, but... when he's hit by the power of fifty, he won't stand a chance!

The Fifty Moons Potion was a very potent and dangerous potion that was created by the members of the Northern Pod, and amplified the power of the full moon to fifty.[1] The potion was green in appearance.

The potion's effects might had been a reference to the Moon of Fifty Years[2], which naturally occurred only once at every fifty years when all the planets of the Solar System occurred in a perfect conjunction with the moon, and released great physical and mystical forces upon the Earth and its Moon Pools.

Description[]

Ondina: "... Instead of singing, we should be finding a way to sever his connection with Mako."
Mimmi: "If the force of fifty moons didn't do it, what do you suggest?"

The potion was required to be used in the waters of any active Moon Pool across the globe under any suitable source of moonlight, such as the full moon or Moon Ring. If successfully completed, a bewitched human-turned-merperson was believed to be reverted back as a human being, and stripped of their magical powers permanently, and it was still unknown if they were able to re-undergo their metamorphosis again after their human self was reverted, though it seemed unlikely. Merpeople native from the sea were likely immune to the lunar and other felow celestial occurrences in an active Moon Pool, and this potion would presumably not work on them as a result.

However, if used on a human being instead, the potion would instead trigger the metamorphosis of the target.[1] However, a reverted merperson that was permanently bewitched by the water dragon's cold breath was completely immune to the effects of metamorphosis in an active Moon Pool itself.[3]

Once released from its container, the potion's contents were to take on the form of a swarming bee-like, and could by directed by a merperson onto their chosen target via the power of hydrokinesis. Once the full moon reached its apex, the potion released blinding light and affected the victim with the power of fifty moons, upon which it would disappear, signifying that the potion's effects were complete.

History[]

Mermaids-3

On December 17th, 2013, Mimmi and Ondina attempt to use this potion on Zac Blakely to remove his real self and powers in Mako's active Moon Pool, but it was interrupted by Evie McLaren, who came to rescue him, inadvertently going through metamorphosis herself.

On June 14th, 2014, Mimmi and Ondina attempted to use this potion again in the same place by casting the Remote Spell to help a bewitched Evie restore her mermaid self and powers after being bewitched by the Water Dragon's cold fire but the potion failed once again, due to nature of the Water Dragon's cold fire on a bewitched merperson, which only caused Evie to itch uncontrollably, while it bewitched Ondina unable to grow a tail, even when dry, after she recklessly had boosted the potion's power with her Moon Ring. Weilan later helped a bewitched Ondina to regain her ability of growing legs when dry via an Eastern technique to neutralize magic after the latter made a proper apology to her for her rude treatment of the former.

Trivia[]

  • When Mimmi and Ondina attempted to utilize the potion's power on Zac Blakely, a merman native from the Northern Pod, in the moon pool at the heart of Mako Island, during the latter's seventh full moon since regaining his merman self and magical powers, Zac's human girlfriend, Evie McLaren interfered with it, and herself inadvertently underwent her metamorphosis. It was believed that it was because of Evie's interference, or Zac's nature as a natural-born merman resulted in the potion being ineffective against him, although the true reason behind his almost miraculous recovery from the magic of fifty moons remained unclear.
